Dear Chairman Edles:
?
I am writing as an interested resident of Middletown and I have followed the TMI #1 hearings for the past 4 years.
The media has done a good job over the years and generally l
takes their cues as to how to phrase items from the NRC.
I and many other residents abhor the use of "TMI #1 Restart Hearings."
This phrase signifies that it is inevitable and that you and the other 2 administrative law judges are merely " rubber stamps" for GPU and the NRC staff.
I believe the 1982 non-binding referendum in my county (Dauphin) that went 3 to 1 opposing operation of TMI #1 is one reason you should consider changing the terminology in des-cribing the hearings that hopefully you will eventually be con-ducting.
In summary, please consider changing "TMI #1 Restart (Appeal) Hearings" to "TMI #1 (Appeal) Hearings. "
At any rate, please consider omitting utilization of the word
" restart."
Perhaps you may consider this a picayune request from a
. kook" but I can assure you, if one thinks my suggestion through and consults with those living near TMI, it will indeed be reasonable.
If you should wish to discuss this, please telephone me after 5 p.m. at 717-944-2250.
Best wishes for a productive hearing that the people of this area can view with confidence.
Sincerely, h[
Donald E. Hossler t
