NUREG-0737, Items II.K.3.28 and II.K.3.16
Dear Sir:
By References (b) and (c), you requested additional information and commitments with regard to NUREG-0737 Item II.K.3.28, " Qualification of ADS Accumulators" and II.K.3.16, " ADS Logic Modification", respectively. The purpose of this letter is to inform you that we will require additional time in which to respond to your requests. Both letters request a response within 45 days of our receipt. However, because of the detailed and extensive engineering effort necessary to adequately assess the scope of your requests, we will require addit'onal time.
It is our present intent to submit our response to the request for additional information relative to ADS Accumulators [ Reference (b)], by November 15, 1983. However, your request to commit to one of two modifications for ADS Logic [ Reference (c)] needs to be carefully reviewed.
We are concerned about the operational aspects associated with the addition of a manual inhibit switch, as well as the potential impact of logic modifications on our small break LOCA analyses. Therefore, we are unable to provide you with a schedule for our response to Reference (c) until our initial engineering evaluation is complete. This evaluation is scheduled to be complete by October 15, 1983, at which time we will provide you with a schedule for responding to Reference (c).
