Dear Mr. Collins:
In respanse to Open Item 267/8214-01 concerning pe sonne,1 accountability during a radiological e.nergency, Public
'rvice Company has undertaken to replace the security card reader :ystein to make it more conducive to personnel accouncability requirements.
i It had been anticipated that the new card reader system could be in place by July ~ 31, 1983. However, as yeu are aware, we have been experiencing a great deal of difficulty with equipment failures in our existing card reader system.
Due to these failures, it has been necessary to divert manpower into maintaining the existing system rather than to completing the new-_ system.
We have temporarily supplemented our staff with additional personnel to cope with this problem.
