e LONG ISL'..D LIGHTING COMPANY SHOREHAM NUCLEAR POWER STATION DOCKET NO. 50-322 ORDER EXTENDING CONSTRUCTION COMPLETION DATE Long Island Lighting Company is the holder of Construction Permit No.
CPPR-95, issued by the Atomic Energy Coninission* on April 14, 1973, for construction of the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station. This facility is presently under construction at the applicant's site on the north shore of Long Island in the town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York.
On February 25, 1983, the applicant requested an extension of the latest completion date because construction has been delayed by the following events beyond its control:
1.
An overall increase in required material quantities and manhours to complete the project.
2.
Expanded scope of Regulatory requirements existing in late 1980 and/or difficulties in completion of these existing Regulatory requirements.
3.
New Regulatory Requirements (not known in late 1980).
4.
Scope additions not due to Regulatory requirements.
5.
Magnitude of System modifications (Regulatory and non-Regulatory).
6.
Delays in the Startup Program.
7.
Delays in material deliveries.
This action involves no significant hazards consideration; good cause has l
been shown for the delays; and the requested extension ~1s for a reasonable period, the bases for which are set forth in the staff's evaluation of the request for extension.

the Authority of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The Comission has detemined that this action will not result in any significant environmental impact and, pursuant to 10 CFR 51.5(d)(4), an environmental impact statement, or negative declaration and environmental impact appraisal, need not be prepared in connection with this action.
The NRC staff evaluation of the request for extension of the const uction permit is available for public inspection at the Comission's Public Document Room, 1717 H Street, N. W., Washington, D. C. 20555 and at the Shoreham-Wading River Public Library, Route 25A, Shoreham, New York.11786.
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT the latest completion date for Construction Permit No. CPPR-95 is extended from March 31, 1983 to December 31, 1983.
