Dear Mr. Rawl:
By application dated June 9,1983 Gulf Huclear, Inc. requested that the flodel No. GNG-20 package design be issued an IAEA Certificate of Competent Authority as a Type B(U) package (1973 Revised Edition, As Amended).
Based upon our review of the application, we have concluded that the packages authorized by NRC Certificate of Compliance No. 9163 meet the requirements for Type B(U) packages except the approval should be conditioned to require a serially numbered lead wire seal in combination with the closure mechanism which, while intact, will be evidence that the package has not been illicitly opened.
