Right here is where we went back to full high pressure injection.
MR. MILLER:
Right at the point where you turs$a we,g,,
pump off.
MR. ZEWE:
Just before or just after we did that, because they took a countdown and Craig hit high pressure injection just as Ed secured the last two pumps.
MR. MILLER:
Is it possible that what you are saying is that you hit high pressure injection full bore at the same time you shut the block valve, or was the water just going into the system at that time?
MR. ZEWE:
I assume, yes.
MR. MILLER:
So the pressure would have been going up.
MR. ZEWE:
That cold water was collapsing steam and bringing down pressure.
I don't know if that would be the case or not, but it was just before we tripped the last pumps that we put on high pressure injection.
MR. MILLER:
That also tells me that high pressure injection wasn't sufficient to do what it should have done.
MR. ROSS:
Two pumps running it.
(Simultaneous conversation.)
MR. S.EELINGER:
Should be able to do it with one EPI pump, l
full bore.
MR. MILLER:
He's saying he had two, and the. core damage occurred right after that.
MR. MILLER:
Is the EPRI thing based on any of that?
- Ivan, they have no way of knowing what EPI was out there.

They had been struggling with it from the computer things, just like everybody else has.
MR. MILLER:
Bill, are you pretty sure we had full HPI rimr.ing at that time?
MR. EEWE:
I was not as sure as the operator who actuated i

This may prove interesting to evaluations.
They found in the sequence of events computer printouts, the descriptors are bassackwards (sic) for them.
When the pump trips, it's really not tripped, and when it's normal, it's tripped on the A and c makeup pumps.
MR. SRRT.TNGER:
This is the logic, according to -- the computer you mean.
MR. PORTER:
I understand the contacts are right but the descriptors are reversed.
Dick just told me today.
MR. SEELINGER:
All right, I understand.
MR. PORTER:
You know, when you come to review the daf.a, it doesn't make any difference which one is wrong, but they are backwards.
MR. ZEWE:
We talked about that point yesterday, after we reviewed the tape, and then I went over the complete scenario for training and everybody as an aid for future training classes, and Craig and Ed brought that up again, l
