Dear Mr. Denton:
ULNRC-642 DOCKET NUMBER 50-483 CALLAWAY PLANT, UNIT 1 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION REVIEW SCHEDULE Union Electric transmitted the Callaway Plant, Unit 1 Technical Specification to NRC for review by ULNRC-564 dated June 29, 1982.
The review of Sections 1.0 through 5.0 of the Technical Specifications has progressed during this past year as a standard review for both Callaway and Wolf Creek.
A meeting was held with NRC reviewers on February 3 and 4, 1983 in which these were reviewed.
As a result of that meeting, it was agreed that SNUPPS, acting for Union Electric and Kansas Gas and Electric, would provide justifications for changes from Westinghouse Standard Technical Specifications (NUREG-0452).
It is anticipated that this submittal will be made by July ll, 1983.
The purpose of this letter is to propose a schedule for completing the Technical Specification review and issuance prior to the Callaway fuel load date of April 2, 1984.
The administrative controls, Section 6.0 is the subject of a separate letter, ULNRC-641 dated June 30, 1983.
We have developed the following schedule for review of Technical Specification Sections 1.0 through 5.0:
7/11/83 -
SNUPPS utilities submit changes to WSTS with justification for the changes.- (We anticipate approximately 6 specification subsections will require an additional submittal.
This second submittal is scheduled by August 15, 1983.)
10/1/83 -
NRC provide comments to SNUPPS utilities on changes provided in 7/11/83 and 8/15/83 submittals.
This is required to integrate surveillance activities into Callaway Hot Functional Test scheduled for 11/15/83.
A meeting with NRC tech spec coordinator may be appropriate at this time.

Final Technical Specification ready to send to Union Electric.
4/2/84 -
Callaway Fuel Load - Technical Specifications issued as Appendix A to the Operating License.
Please review this schedule and let us know of any concerns or changes that you might foresee.
Unless told otherwise, we will assume this is a mutually agreeable schedule and trust that NRC will strive to support this schedule based on the callaway fuel load date.
