2 Minutes of Staff Meetino - 17 Septesber 1979
- Custccer-Service Deoartment q
The following topics were discussed briefly:
l Questions have arisen with re;; ect to'the Maintenance Engineer function's o
relationship to the Engineering Department. This item came 'up Qiog.the.
!j General Manager's Staff Feeting and will require follow-uo discursions
' i between Kostba and Roy; also involved will be Olds, and I would appreciate input from any other mencers of the staff they pick up through the. day-to-day
-conduct of business.
There is a substantial nuder of hours " suspended *.somewhere in the order
.o of 11.000. Each staff mener is alerted to check on the degree to which he participates in that problem. and also to input correction of the cause of the problem. P.acMillan nas identified Oca Frericht frors Project Management to work with the FAA people to define the cause of the prc:alem, such that corrective action can be taken. It was agreed after discu:ssion that Bob Wascher wout.d be the input man for the Custcmer Service.Co:artment. The restof the staff would provide any input that is beneficial to Bob Wascher so that we have a single point of contact with this activi:y.
O During the Ger.eral Manager's Staff Meeting there was much discussion of the question of Balley performance with us - I made clear that we needed to i
establith our own discuss.fon with Sailey in the area of Special Products to reach.an agenement in principle on how we would functic.n in this area.
I continue to believe that the best approach is a very small meeting 1
where one or two people go up to Bailey and talk quietly 4::out the problem to reach cosmon agreement in principle.
P4 quested people in the staff to be aleri: for developments on the overall Bailey situation so that we can be aware and to avoid becoming entangled in a meeting which might start out with a non-cooperative basis. Also agreed that ;:riority action would i
be given to writing down, updating and publishing with appropriate concurrences the Organization Responsibilities doctenant for Special Products. Action.on this item is with Perrone.
TMI-2 incident has caused a flurry of activity all over the industry under o
the. banner of 'tessons to be t. earned" and " Changes to be Accomplished". On the other hand, there is some question that each of us in cur own sectors of responsibility has been sufficiently decanding to recognize what has been done so that our product or services are changed and frproved, wnat are chadges that we are in the process of putting into place, and what are changes that we plan to do in the future. In my own mind. I am not satisfied that the itens we can list in each of those three categories are as substantial as we would ilke in light of the significance of that event. I requested that, on the next monthly report, each staff mecer provide his score sheet (tand written and very brief) for those three categoriest f.e., what changes.have already been realized, what changes are in process, and what additional changes are planned in the future. Whether this would be a continued activity is left as an opan issue. We will see hew the next renth's score sheets come out.
