Attention:

Mr. R. A. Clark, Chief Operating Reactors Branch 3 l'

Gentlemen:

DOCKET NO. 50-301 j

CYCLE 10 RELOAD POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2 Our letter of February 3, 1983 discussed our plans concerning the Unit 2 Cycle 10 reload core safety evaluations.

During the recent Unit 2 refueling two fuel assemblies, l

l which were planned to be loaded in the Cycle 10 core, were replaced with two other assemblies from the spent fuel pool.

As a result the Cycle 10 core loading pattern was changed slightly.

A total of three core positions were affected.

Westinghouse has rechecked their Reload Safety Evaluation in light of the changes in the core loading.

This is to inform you that the new core characteristics remain less limiting than previously reviewed and accepted values, and that the discussion and conclusions presented in our February 3 letter remain valid.

Very truly yours,

,b Vice President-Nuclear Power C. W. Fay Copy to NRC Resident Inspector pg87MPoEh
