CALVERT CLIFFS Diesel Gen ~e'rator Failures-1.
~
An incident occurred on June 3, 1982 which iesulted in.the loss of all
-(three) diesel generators at Calvert Cliffs. With.Calvert Cliffs Unit 1 in a refueling outage, Diesel Generator #11 (Unit 1) was removed from service for maintenance.
In preparation for performing maintenance on a service transformer, the remaining diesel generators (f12 (swing) and
- 21 (Unit 2)) were tested.
At approximately 5:30 AM, diesel generators
- 12 and #21 were shown to be operable. At approximately 6:30 AM #21 diesel generator tripped and #12 diesel generator was started.
At approximately 7:00 AM #12 diesel generator tripped and thus all diesel generators were temporarily inoperable.
Calvert Cliffs Unit 2 was operating during this time.
At approximately 8:00 AM, diesel generators.
s.12 and #21 were declared operable.
The cause of the incident was related to the paralleling of the diesel generators with buses that were being powered from an off-site source.
The licensee is investigating this incident
