Docket No. 50-289 (Restart)

Dear Mr. Plaine:

During the Commission meeting of May 24, 1983, a member of the NRC staff stated that the staff had concluded and that a Licensee contractor had essentially concluded that TMI-2 records had been falsified as alleged by H. Hartman in March of 1980 (Tr. 14-18).

Mr. Dieckamp, President of GPU, immediately request-ed whatever evidence is available and whatever conclusions have been drawn on this subject (Tr. 19).

This is to confirm that request.

Accordingly, please provide whatever evidence is avail-able, including specifically:

1.

Staff analysis (es) and report (s) containing the indi-cated conclusion.

2.

Records of management review and approval of any such report (s).

3.

The specific citation (s) in a Licensee contractor's I

report which support the staff statement.

Because of the serious nature of this matter, we request that the Commission respond expeditiously to our request.

(

Sincerely, l
