SUBJECT:
PROPOSED LICENSE TO EXPORT COMPONENTS TO JAPAN (XCOM0764)
On May 10,1983, C. Itoh & Company applied for a license to export 200 pieces 4
of guide thimble tubes to Japan for ultimate use in the Mihama Nuclear Power Reactor. The tubes are required to replace previously exported tubes which did not meet contract specifications.
The applicant has requested us to expedite the processing of this request in order to ship the pieces on May 20, 1983.
The staff has concluded that the proposed export meets the requirements of the Atomic Energy Act, as amended, and, would not be inimical to the common defense and security of the United States.
In view of the above considerations and because the proposed export covers replacement parts originally exported under previously issued export license XCOM0697,the staff issued the license without the 15-day waiting period.
