Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2 (TMI-2)
Operating License No. DPR-73 Docket No. 50-320 thderhead Characterization Study Attached for your review and approval is Revision 0 to the Safety Evaluation Report for the Underhead Characterization Study to be performed. This Study will include the following activities:
Raising and lowering the RCS level Obtaining dose rates around the head and service structure Inserting an ionization chamber into CRIE H-8 Performing a visual inspection under the reactor head with remote equipment Inserting TLD's Obtaining debris sanples from the top of the plenum This Safety Evaluation also covers activities performed in support of the activities identified and assumed that the polar crane will be available to remove the missile shields to obtain access to the reactor vessel head area. An amended safety evaluation will be submitted covering an optional approach which does not require use of the polar crane.
d 0 07 This activity is currently scheduled to start mid June, 1983.
