Safety-Related Shock Suppressors (Snubbers)
Dear Sir:
Reference (b), as amended by Reference (c), requires that we complete any modifications necessary to assure that our facility conforms to the Acceptance Criteria contained in Appendix A to NUREG-0661, prior to startup from our present refueling outage.
.$.s a part of this overall effort, we have installed additional safety-related shock suppressors to increase the load carrying capability of certain piping systems to withstand torus induced hydrodynamic loads, as called for by our Mark I Containment Program. The analysis which determined the need for the additional shock suppressors also resulted in a need to replace certain shock suppressors with rigid restraints; while one other was determined to be no longer necessary.
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with the enclosed list of additions and deletions of safety-related shock suppressors. Since safety-related shock suppressors are listed in facility Technical Specifications (Table 4.6.2), we will be submitting a formal request for amending our Technical Specifications to reflect these changes.
Pending the approval of our amendment request by the NEC, we will institute the same operating and surveillance requirements for the new shock suppressors as exist in present Technical Specifications. These operating and surveillance f000 8305200517 830517 fi PDRADOCK05000g P

Mr. Domenic B. "assalo Page 2 requirements have been previously reviewed and approved by the NRC by Reference-(d). Our amendment request will not call for revising these requirements, but snerely update Table 4.6.2 to reflect the presently installed shock suppressors.
It is our intent to submit a proposed change to facility Technical Specifications by June 1, 1983. Should you have any questions in this matter, please contact us.
