Dear Mr. Keppler:
J. F. Stolz's letter of May 5, 1982, approved the Toledo Edison Inservice Inspection Program for Welds and System Pressure Tests.
In this letter it was stated that the start of the next ISI 10-year interval is November 21, 1987. For power units that are out of service continuously for six months or more, IWA-2400(c) of Af,ME Section XI permits the inspection interval during which the outage occurred to be extended for a period equivalent to the outage, and increased or decreased by as much as one year to coincide with refueling outages.
Since ccamercial operation began, Davis-Besse has been continuously out of service for two (2) months in 1978, three (3) months in 1979, seven (7) months in 1980, and five (5) months in 1982.
Due to the length of the 1980 outage, the first 10-year Inservice Inspection interval is being extended to June 21, 1988, in accordance with the provisions of IWA-2400 (c). To coincide with scheduled outages, Toledo Edison intends to further extend the first 10-year ISI interval to be completed by the end of the scheduled Spring, 1989 Refueling Outage.
