4 is an official or employee of the Staff, such person's name and title should be set forth together with an identification of which Interrogatories he or she is responsible for answering.

In answering these Interrogatories, the agreed Protocol, dated March 4, 1982, should be followed. However, in addition to identifying documents which serve as a basis for or pertain to any answer, the Staff should treat certain Interrogatories, where i

so stated, as a request, pursuant to 10 CFR $2.741, that the Staff produce and permit Intervenors to inspect and copy such documents at such time and in such manner as may be agreed upon by the parties.

INTERROGATORIES The following Interrogatories and request to produce refer to the March 28, 1983, Memorandom to J. Nelson Grace, Director,.

CRBR Program Office, Nuclear Reactor Regulation, from Daniel R.

Muller, Assistant Director for Radiation Protection, Division of Systems Integration, re: CRBR Core Disruptive Accident Dose Evaluation, and enclosed Appendix A.

i

1. We request that Staff identify and produce the following:

(a) The computer code output for the calculations in these documents.

(b) A written description of the computer code output such l

that a person not familiar with the output can interpret the i

printout, e.g., the format of the input parameters and calculated output values.

c. The plutonium dose conversion factors assumed for (i) bone surface, (ii) lung, and (iii) whole body.
d. The underlying document (s) relied upon for*

(i) the values identified in response to 1.c. above, and (ii) the plutonium dose conversion factors assumed for other organs and isotopes not previously identified.

e. Any other outputs related to these documents and not previously identified, including *

(i) intermediate output presenting activity category releases as a function of time, and (ii) time interval and activity (by category) released to the containment and remaining in containment.

f. Assumptions regarding*

(i) rate of penetration of sodium into concrete as a function of time, and i

(ii) gas sparging.

g. The reasons for which each assumption in Table 1A was chosen.
h. Any other calculations that demonstrate the sensitivity of the doses presented in Table 2A to changes in input parameters and assumption, including those identified in Table 1Aj (i) the underlying assumptions for the calculations identified in response to Interrogatory 1(h) above, (ii) the computer printout of the calculations identified in response to Interrogatory 1(h) above, f

(iii) a written description of the computer printout (s) identified in response to Interrogatory 1(h)(ii) above, such that a person not familiar with the output can interpret the printout.

2. With respect to filter efficiency (99%) identified in Table 1A, does it refer to the vent, or annulus filtation system, or both? Which isotopss does it cover? Identify any alternative filter efficiencies assumed.
3. Identify whether Staff considers each parameter in Table 1A a " realistic" (best estimate) or " conservative" assumption as these terms are used by the Staff.

Respectfully submitted,
