Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (TMI-1)
Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket Nw. 50-289 Training Program Assessment GPU Nuclear Corporation hereby formally requests that Data Design Labora-tories, Inc. (DDL) be approved as the consultant to perform the 2 years probationary indepth audit of the qualification and requalification training and testing program required by the TMI-l ASLB PID dated July 28, 1982 para. 2421, item (1).
On October 1,1982, GPU Nuclear Corporation provided a letter to you describing the 1982 assessment made by DDL of the Company's training program.
By separate cover dated October 5, 1982 to the Atomic Safety and Licensing Appeal Board; Shaw, Pittman, Potts & Trowbridge, our legal counsel, provided an additional copy of volume 1 of this report to NRC legal counsel and parties to the TMI-l restart proceeding who were involved in the training aspects of the case and to the Appeal Board and Licensing members. Pages 2-3 through 2-6 of that report discusses the qualification and experience of DDL and selected staff members.
DDL had no previous contact with the GPU System including no role in the TMI-1 restart proceedings and meets the requirements of an independent auditor.
