Dear Mr. Haynes:

This letter supersedes the reference letter to B. H. Grier, dated 3/5/81. That letter stated that the changes to the subject transmitters will be complete by September 30, 1982.

This letter is intended to inform the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that the date for completion of corrective action has been revised to July 1,1984 for Unit 1 and prior to fuel load for Unit 2.

In August, 1981, General Electric issued a Field Disposition Instruction (FDI) which authorized GE site personnel to correct deficiencies in the 1151 and 1152 models of the Rosemount transmitters. As of July, 1982, however, Philadelphia Electric deemed it necessary to replace many of the existing transmitters with the 1153 models. This is essential in order to meet Environmental Qualification requirements.

fDR O O ,

O h

.' %=,

Mr. Ronald C. Haynes In response to this, General Electric placed a hold on further processing of the FDIs until Philadelphia Electric identified those transmitters which will be replaced with the 1153 models. This list was sent to General Electric in February, 1983. With the information available, General Electric will provide the FDIs and make all necessary changes.

Conclusion of this action will be tracked by the follow-up system for IE Bulletins, Circulars and Information Notices maintained in the office of the Project Manager.

We believe that this disposition concludes our response to the subject bulletin.

If further information la required, please do not hesitate to CCritJCt us.

Sincerely, I?l? f 5f i/
