The information is as initially received without verifi-cation or evaluation and is basically all that is known by NRC staff on this date.

MAN INJURED IN FALL FROM COOLING TOWER At approximately 3:00 PM on 12/19/82, a contractor's employee, who was replacing aircraft warning lights, fell from the natural draft cooling tower. The employee fell from a platform and slid about 200 feet down the curved lower face of the tower. He was rescued by local fire fighters and ambulance personnel and transported to a nearby hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
Mcdia interest has occurred because of public sensitivity to TMI related events.
The licensee has issued a press release. The NRC does not plan to issue a press release.
The Commonwealth of Penn!,ylvania was informed.
This preliminary notification is issued for information only and the NRC plans to review this event.
The NRC TMI Program Office received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the licensee at 3:45 PM on December 19, 1982 and. this information was current as of 9:00 AM on December 20, 1982. A 10 CFR 50.72 report was not made by the li nsee.
