Dear Sir,

We are writing, along with many other thinking, caring Michigan residents and property owners, to oppose vehemently the approval of the so-called " temporary storage" of nuclear waste, in dry casks, at the Consumers Power Company Palisades Plant on the dune shore of Lake Michigan, near many lakeshore residential areas.

(Both year-round and summer residences).

The above plant was long ago listed as the most frighteningly unsafe nuclear plant in the U.S.'

Now the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has characterized this stor-age as " temporary", but the casks that are already being construc-ted are NOT DESIGNED TO BE TRANSPORTED!

Once in place, this will become a permanent nuclear storage site on the very fracile and corous dunes of Lake Michigan.

Also, these casks, which HAVE NEVER BEEN TESTED, are a passive system, and there is no planned action for a monitoring system for this site.

There must be a PMLIC HEARI!m! The days of simply going over the heads of the public are over!) and there clearly must be an ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STUDY!

Withc0tthe above, this would truly be an outrageous display of inconceivably insensitive non-thinking regarding both the en-vironment, and more importantly, the impact on many generations to come.

Very sincerely, y

n 64tc4[./ L hh (Mr. and:

Donald Lemoin, Michigan natives, and lakeshore 9303050048 930220 property owners.)
