SUMMARY

OF MEETING WITH GENERAL ELECTRIC ON, ALMR-SEVERE ACCIDENT CONTAINMENT AND MITIGATION.

The= subject meeting was' held in Rockvilla, Maryland on February 27,s1990.

A list of the meeting attendees is attached.

Since the Department of: Energy considers the ALMR to be " Applied.

Technology," the presentation viewgraphs are not-P.ttached to this

. memorandum.

The GE presentation included an assessment of the primary system-margins against severe accidents, for both energetic core cdjsruption accidents and core. melt accidents.

D A. conceptual containment design was presented.

GE described a design base event thermal-hydraulic scenario and proposed a l

source term for use in evaluating the containment performance.

. Maintenance and refueling accidents were also discussed.

l-GE is planning on two PSID amendments to-address the staff p

con:: erns identified in the draft SER (NUREG-1368).= The first,

. Amendment 12, is to'be provided on March 30, 1990, and the second, W ndment 13, on May 31, 1990.

GE also identified areas in tb d ni t SER that will require re-evaluation by the staff -

c.insic with the new containment proposal.
