Spare Parts Revity Status Gentlement In 1985, as part of the Davis-Besse Course of Action Plan, Toledo Edison committed to perform a spare parts review for the 34 Systems Review and Test y
Program (SRTP) systems. Toledo Edison plans to complete the spare parts evaluations for the safety related components and the majority of the non-safety related components in the 34 SRTP systems by May 31, 1990. This reviev was previously projected to be complete by March 31, 1990 (Reference Serial Number 1454 dated December 18, 1987).
Non-safety related components in the 34 SRTP systems for which sufficient information is not readily available vill be integrated into ongoing Materials Management' Programs and addressed with the remaining components.
Several actions have been taken that have significantly improved material support to the plant. These actions included:
- 1) performance of a vall-to-vall inventory of Davis-Besse stocked material 2) installation of and implementation of the Centerior Materials Management System (CMMS) which includes the Inventory Management Module
- 3) commencement of assignment of stock codes to virtually all items ordered
- 4) commencement of a formal program to return material from the field and evaluate for stock or scrap / sale as appropriate O

- 5) culmination of a procurement task force effort to streamline the materials process
- 6) completed initial review of Preventive Maintenance (PM) program for materials needs and stock coded and placed the material.in inventory with appropriate levels set
- 7) completed storage addition to Varehouse which vill allow room for additional parts and better separation of "0" parts
- 8) established single materials tracking report that provides common baselines for all departments' material status needs As a result of these actions, spare parts support for Davis-Besse has significantly improved in the last four years. Toledo Edison expects continued improvement in spare parts availability as the spare parts project is integrated into ongoing programs over the coming year.
Toledo Edison believes the above actions satisfactorily address the intent of the original commitment.
