TVA letter to NRC dated January 12, 1990, "Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SQN) - Technical Specification (TS) Change 89-25" In accordance with the conditions for exemption-from 10 CFR 50.46(a)(1) noted in Reference 1,=a~ plant-specific emergency core cooling' system (ECCS) cooling-evaluation has been prepared for SQN.

The results of the analysis were submitted to NRC as justification for upper head injection (UHI) removal'in Reference 2. ' The ECCS evaluation will be valid for SQN upon completion of the modifications associated with UHI removal.

TVA will be in compliance with 10 CFR 50.46(a)(1) upon start-up from the Cycle 4 refueling outage for each

. unit.
