Revision to Exemption Request - Vorker Respiratory Protection Apparatus 4

On January 13, 1984, Alabama Power Company requested an axemption to 10CFR20, Appendix A, footnote d-2(c) to allow the use of the GMR-I canisters. Alabama Power Company received this exemption via an NRC letter dated October 23,.1984. This exemption states that the GMR-I canisters will be stored in a Class A environment.

Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) has subsequently furnished a summary of their test results justifying class C storage requirements for.these canisters.

A copy of the correspondence from MSA is attached.for your reference.

Alabama ~ Power Company hereby requests an amendment for Farley Nuclear Plant 3

to allow GMR-I canisters to be stored in a Class C storage environment.

It is requested that this amendment be granted by August 25, 1990.
