l Conunonwealth. Edison Company (CECO)'is planning to implement the NRC-approved Westinghouse codes PHOENIX-P'and ANC to replace its existing ARK and 2D codes which are used to perform neutronic analyses for PWR reload designs.
In' support of this cc,de transition, CECO plans to submit a Licensing Topical Report (LTR) by July'15, 1990. The new codes are expected to be used-c L
starting-in December of 1990 for Braidwood Unit 1 Cycle 3 (BW103)- design L
calculations. Application of these codes for other CECO reload designs for Braidwood, Byron. and Zion would follow this initial use for BW103.
.-CECO plans.with respect to the content of the LTR have previously 1
been discussed with your staff on the Reference (a) and (b) conference calls.
Attachment A outlines the general scope of the submittal as modified based on the. staff ~ guidance.
It reflects the tact that the subject computer codes have l
been previously reviewed and approved for similar applications by
. Westinghouse.
L Attachment B summarizes the proposed LTU submittol schedule. CECO
(
will be available to meet with the NRC as needed to facilitate the review of
.the - LTR.
