This is in reply to your letter of February 2, 1990 (L-JY/JW-001) in which you requested a meeting so that JGC could present_its process for cement-solidification of liquid radioactive waste and spent resins.
He would be pleased to meet with you here on Thursday, March 8, 1990 at 10:00 a.m.
Please advise me whether that date is agreeable to you.
We note that JGC Corporation plans to submit for NRC review and 4-approval a Topical Report (TR) describing the solidification process and including test reports to demonstrate the 300-year structural stability of the solidified waste form.
We are enclosing for your information a copy of our Administrative Procedure for the Review of Topical Reports.
A2 you may know, the NRC staff has reviewed a number of Vendor TRs on cement-solidification of low-level radioactive waste but has yet to approve any of them.
Our concerns regarding the 300-year structural stability of this waste form are discussed in the proceedings of the May 31 - June 2, 1989 Workshop on Cement-Solidification of Low-Level Radioactive Waste (copy enclosed).
We look forward to meeting with you on March 8, 1990.
