This is in regard to a request for approval of a route to be used for transport -

i of spent fuel as contained in your letter of December 14, 1989.

- The routeLfrom Fulton, Missouri to Lynchburg, Virginia-(and eventually export-ed from Norfolk, Virginia) as requested in your letter _of December 14, 1989 is judged to meet the regulatory requirements in accordance with 10 CFR 73.37 for shipment of spent fuel and is approved.

In the event your carrier is required to deviate from the approved route, please call the contact listed on page two l

of this-letter.as_soon as possible providing details.

Arrangements with law enforcement agencies along the: route have been completed-by the NRC staff. Data relating to these arrangements and a copy of the approved

- route are enclosed. This information-is to be incorporated into your shipment plans and:provided to your carrier along with instructions regarding its:use.

E Please note that assuring highway safety is the responsibility of the licensee and: carrier:and our approval is not intended to provide relief in this regard.

l During seasonal periods when__ inclement weather with accompanying hazardous road conditions can occur with short notice, the appropriate state-police should be contacted with regard to road conditions before a-shipment commences.
