Gentlemen:

Generic Letter 88-05 requested that we provide assurance that a program has been

' implemented consisting of systematic measures to er.sure that boric acid corrosion does not -lead to-an increase in 'the probability of abnormal ' leakage, rtridly propagating 3

failure, : or gross rupture of the - reactor coolant pressure boundary. The generic letter required our initial response to provide assurance that such a program was in place or i'

to provide. a schedule for promptly implementing such a program.

Reference - (a) - was our initial response, it detai%d an informal program we had in place and reported our intention to formalize and fully implement a program that.
