Enclosed is an application for an export license (XUO8691), received recently by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, for the export of natural uranium to be enriched and fabricated into fuel for eventual use as fuel for one of Tokyo Electric Power Company's nuclear power reactors (specific end use not yet determined)inJapan. Assurances from the* Government of Japan are required

-that the material will be subject to all of the terms and conditions of an agreement for cooperation. Your assistance in obtaining the necessary assurances will be appreciated.

Please note the material is of Canadian origin.
