UNVERIFIED SEISMIC ANALYSIS FOR FINAL DESIGN YCRD-50-566/81-04, YCRD-50-567/81-03 10 CFR 50.55(e)

FINAL REPORT Description of Deficiency During review of design drawings, it was discovered that final design had been completed and construction drawings issued based on preliminary seismic analyses. The nonconforming condilion occurred for the essential raw cooling water (ERCW) pumping station, equipment hatch access' platform, and waste management building. Engineers failed to observe the seismic input had not been verified. -

Safety Implicaticns '

Since the verification of the preliminary seismic analyses (discussed in corrective actione) has shown that no changes are required, use of the preliminary information would not have jeopardized the above-mentioned structures. The efore, the safe operation of the plant would not have been adversely affecteu.

Corrective Action .

TVA has completed the final seismic analyses for the structures in question. An evaluation of the final seismic loads on the structures has been completed with no changes required to the original dt .ign. The requirement of having final seismic analysis before completion or construction drawings has been reemphasized to engineers and designers by appropriate TVA management. Other TVA nuclear plants are not affected.by this nonconformance. The following is a summary of the corrective action taken on each structure in question and the dates when the action was completed.

1. Essential Raw Cooling Hater Pumping Station The final seismic structural analysis was completed on May 26, 1981.

An evaluation of the final seismic structural loads on the structure was completed on June 12, 1981, with no changes required to the original design.

The final seismic floor response spectra was completed on July 7, 1981. An evaluation of the floor response spectra loads on the structure was completed on August 17, 1981, with no changes required to the criginal design.

2. Equipment Hatch Access Platform The final seismic structural analysis was completed on April 1, 1981.

An evaluation of the final seismic structural loads on the equipment hatch access platform was completed on May 15, 1981, with no changes required to the original design. Floor response spectra are not applicable to the equipment hatch access platform since it is a non-
