Dear Sir:
Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1 (DiI-1)
Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Response to IE Bulletin 80-06 GPU Nuclear responded to the subject bulletin on July 2, 1980 (TLL 293) and November 7, 1980 (TLL 547).
Our response indicated that the valves listed in the TLL 293 would not remain in their emergency mode position upon reset of the containment isolation signal.
Further investigations' revealed, as noted in TLL 547, that the valves will be in their emergency mode position upon isolation signal reset. This has been confirmed by engineered safeguards actuation component test..

s Components All-E ISA, ISB, include two air handling units each with i
filters, centrifugal fans, and cooling coils.
Each unit has 100 percent capacity.
The functions of the screen house air handling fan, All-E 27A, 27B is to remove building internal heat under normal operating conditions. Two air handling units are provided, one being a standby.
Each unit has the capacity to filter, cool and recirc.ulate the air within the building.

o Mr. R. C. Haynes L1L 290 For normal operation only one supply fan is operated at a time i.e.
AH-E-15A or B and AH-E-27A or B.
The fans will receive a signal to start automatically on ES actuation.
Upon reset of ES actuation signal the fans, which are normally not running, will stop.
However, normally running fans will keep on running. Reset of ES actuation signal does not adversely affect the system as AH-E-15A or B and AH-E-17A or B are designed for 100 per-cent capacity.
If a fan on normal select mode trips, it will be annunciated in the ( atrol room.
It is planned to revise the circuitry so as the fans will remain in their emergency position after reset of the actuation signal. This modification shall be designed and inatalled by the first refueling outage after restart of TMI-Unit 1.
Sincerely,
+]
