HARTSVILLE AND PHIPPS BEND NUCLEAR PLANTS - REPORTABLE DEFICIENCY - STANDBY GAS TREATMENT SYSTEM CHARCOAL ADSORBER (NCR HTN NEB 80-02 AND PBN NEB 80-02) Initial notification of the subject deficiency was made to NRC-0IE, Region II, Inspector R. W. Wright on May 8, 1980. The first, second, third, fourth, and fifth interim reports were submitted on June 4, August 20, November 26, 1980, March 2, and May 20, 1981, respectively. In compliance with paragraph 50.55(e) of 10 CFR Part 50, this letter constitutes the final report on the subject deficiency. TVA and GE/C. F. Braun have reviewed the subject nonconformance, and as a result, have determined that the faulty perforated screen to frame welds should be repaired. Repair of the deficient welds will be accomplished by seal welding the entire perimeter of the perforated screens using an approved welding procedure. All welds will be repaired by December 4, 1981.
