Substantial Safety Hazard Service Water Pumps Nuclear Eng. File 3.1051
Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
On August 19, 1981, Mr. - Virgil Brownlee of NRC Region II tvas notified of a potential significant deficiency or substantial safety hazard concerning the service water pump motors. All three pumps are experiencing oil leakage around the upper bearing pot.
At this time, South Carolina Electric and Gas Company (SCE&G) has not determined if the item is reportable under 10CFR21 or 10CFR50.55(e). The service water pump motors are supplied by Westinghouse Electric Corporation. The vendor has been contacted and arrangement, are being
.nade for on site consultation on the problem.
This letter serves as an interim 30 day report.
