Completion of Generic Item B-24 and W
TMI Action Item II.E.4.2.5 Gentlemen:
Your letter of August 5,1981 requested Alabama Power Company to prepose Technical Specifications consistent with the resolution of Generic Item B-24 and TMI Action Item II.E.4.2.5.
In particular, Technical Specifications were requested for items 2 (Valve Operability) and 4 (Containment Leakage Due to Seal Deterioration). Technical Specifications for these items on the currently installed 48 inch purge valves and 18 inch purge valves were proposed to the NRC in the Alabama Power Company letter dated May 28, 1981 as part of the Unit 1 Technical Specification upgrade.
In addition, the May 28, 1981 submittal also included a revised minimum containment isolation setpoint which is consistent with the resolution of item 5 (Containment Pressure Setpoint for Containment Isolation).
As part of the Unit 2 full power NPF-8 license condition 2.C.17 Alabama Power Company will be submitting by October 1, 1981, the design of the modified containment vent and purge system.
Prior to instal-lation of the 8 inch purge valves, Alabama Power Company will propose revised Technical Specifications for the containment purge system.
