APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Georgia Power Company Docket Nos. 50-424 & 50-425 Vogtle License Nos. CPPR-108 & CPPR-109 As a result of the inspection conducted on July 6-9, 1981, and in accordance with the Interim Enforcement Policy, 45 FR 66754 (October 7,1980), the following violation was identified.
10 CFR 50, Appendix B, Criterion V as implemented by Section 17.1.5 of the PSAR requires that activities affecting quality be prescribed and accomp-lished in accordance with documented instructions, procedures or drawings.
Drawing M08G S176 gives weld sizes for Unit 1 safety related structural steel welds in auxiliary building room C-80.
Drawing AX 2008F049 gives weld sizes for Unit 2 safety related structural steel welds in auxiliary building room C-13.
Contrary to the above, saf ety related structural welds in rooms C-80 and C-13 did not meet requirements specified by the drawings in that the following welds had sizes smaller than specified by the drawings:
(1) Stiffener weld located 6'11" E of column line A12 and 11'3" S of column line AF in room C-Sd.
(2) Clip Angle weld in room C-13 described as sequential weld 2 on Civil Field Weld Inspection Report 01762.
Thi, is a Severity Level V Violation (Supplement II,E).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, you are hereby required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including: (1) admission or danial of the alleged viola-tion; (2) the reasons for the violation if admitted; (3) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (4) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (5) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Consideration may be given to extending your response time for gcod cause shown. Under the authority of Section 182 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended, this response shall be submitted under oath or affirmation.
