Farley Nuclear Plant - Units ' & 2 Turbine Disc Inspection Intervals Gentlemen: In response to your letter dated August 24, 1981, Alabama Power Company will inspect low pressure turbine discs at Farley Units 1 & 2 in accordance with the following criteria: (1) New discs will be inspected before any postulated crack would grow to more than one-half the critical crack size. (2) Discs previous'y inspected and found to be 'ree of cracks or that nave been repaired to eliminate all indications will be reinspected using the same criterion as for new discs, calculating crack growth from the time of the last inspection. (3) Discs operating with known and measured cracks will be reinspected before one-half of time calculated for any crack to grow to one-half of the critical crack size. (4) These inspection schedules may be varied to coincide with scheduled refueling outages. Westing-house recommendations in this regard will be considered in scheduling the inspections. Alabama Power Company will repiace or inspect the Unit 2 low pressure turbine discs as required by license condition 2.C.(19)(d) p prior to resuming power operation following the first refueling. .O \\ i 810;240405 810921' PDR ADOCK 05000348 G PDR
