Dear Mr. Chainran:

Three Mile Island Alert, Inc. hereby requests an extension of t me in filing exceptions to the decision rendered August 27, 1981 by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board, In the Matter of Metropolitan Edison Carpany, (Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1), Docket No. 50-239 (Restart), Partial Initial Managerent Decision (Procedural Background and Management Issues).

This extensicn is requested it light of the 10CFR 2.762 requirement the exceptions be filed within ten days, the fact that the Comission has ordered a simultaneous coment period before the Comission on the issue of inmediate effectiveness, and considereing the length of the partial decision. The ASLB stated in its decision that "an extension of time for the filing of exceprims with the . 8 Appeal Board might be appropriate."

We request that an extension be granter' itil after cocments, reply conments, and oral arguements are heard on the immdinte effectiveness issues. We will, however, file a Notice of Appeal within ten days, if requested.
