This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. D. R. Gibbons of this office on August 11, 1981, of activities authorized by NRC Byproduct Material License No. 21-18302-01 and to the discussion of our findings with Mr. William Marquardt at the conclusion of the inspection.
The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to radiation safety and to compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations and with the conditions of your license. The inspec-tion consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, observations, independent measurements, and interviews with personnel.
During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in non-compliance with NRC requirements, as specified in enclosed Appendix A.
A written response, submitted under oath or affirmation, is required. Note that six of the nine items of noncompliance are deficiencit in record keeping.
In addition to our concern for corrective action with respect to the specific items of noncompliance noted we are concerned about this problem with record keeping.
Consequently, in your reply to this letter, please describe those actions taken or planned to improve the effective-ness of your record keeping so as to preclude the recurrance of these or similar items of noncompliance.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
