Dear Mr. Denton:

ULNRC- 4 98 DOCKET NUMBERS 50-483 AND 50-486 CALLAWAY PLANT, UNITS 1 & 2 RESPONSES TO NRC QUESTIONS Pursuant to a request by telephone by Mr. Sy Block of your staff, this letter formalizes Union Electric's commitment concerning the Radiation Protection Manager qualif*ations and the retraining program for Radiation-Chemical Technicians.

Callaway's Radiation Protection Manager, Mr. Jim Peevy, will participate in two refuelings by fuel load, and Mr. Pat Walsh, Health Physicist, will participate in one refueling by fuel load.

Their participation in the refueling outages will be at the I management level. A requalification and retraining program for Radiation-Chemical Technicians will be implemented, and as the scope of this program is defined the informatica will be transmitted to the NRC. The completed retraining program will be made available to the NRC no later than siv months following fuel load.
