DOCKET 50-155 - LICENSE DPR BIG ROCK POINT PLANT - RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 81-02, SUFPLEMENT I - FAILURE OF GATE TYPE VALVES TO CLOSE AGAINST DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE IE Bulletin No. 81-02, Supplement 1, dated August 18, 1981, (Failure of Gate Type Valves to Close Against Differential Pressure) requested Consumers Power Company to verify the presence or absence of any valves manufactured by Westinghouse Electro-Mechanical Div:~.rion (W-EMD). The supplement requests investigation of tLe entira line of W-EMD manufactured motor-operated gate valves in addition to the 3-and 4-inch low pressure valves identified in IE Bulletin 81-02, dated April 9, 1981.
Consumers Power Company letter of May 18, 1981 provided response to IE Bulletin 81-02 that none of the valves identified by the bulletin were used at Big Rock Point. A review of plant records to ascertain use of the additional W-EMD valves specified by Supplement I has determined that Big Rock Point does not utilize any W-EMD manufactured motor-operated gate valves nor are any maintained as spares for installation.

It is estimated that the review and preparation of the report required by this bulletin required approximately 12 man hours.
