Thank you for your letter dated August 7,1981, informing us of the steps you have taken to correct the noncompliance which we brought to your attention in our letter dated July 29, 1981.
We concur that the whole body exposures were predominantly from the use of x-ray.
However, it is the purpose of the regulations in 10 CFR 20 to control the possession, use, and transfer of licensed material in such a manner that the total dose to an individual (including exposures to licrased and unlicensed radioactive material and to other unlicensed sources of radiation) does not exceed the standards of radiation pro-tection described in 10 CFR 20.
To this end, 10 CFR 20.101(a) restricts radiatica exposures from licensed and other sources of radiation.
We do not consider the R. S. Landauer film badge report to be equivalent to a Form NRC-4.
The Form NRC-4 requires the employee's signature and must be dated prior to the individual entering the restricted area.
Based on the above, your request to retract the noncompliances is denied.
However, your corrective actions appear acceptable and we have no further questions regarding the noncompliances at this time. We will examine your corrective actions during a future inspection.
