Dear Mr. Charimans u.s.gl,

A /

Three Mile Island Alert hereby requests tha $g/

extension of time be granted for filing exceptions to e Partial Initial Decision (Procedural Background and Management Issues), rendered August 27, 1981, In the Matter of Metronolitan Edison Company (Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1),

Docket No. 50-289, by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board.

This request is made in light of the fifteen day comment period imposed by the Commission on the issue of immediate effectiveness of the decision, which would run simultan.eously with the ten day time period set out in 10 C.F.R. Section 2 762.

We therefore request that an extension of time to file exceptions be granted, until at least after comments, reply comments, and oral arguement on the immediate effectiveness issues are complete. We note that the Board stated in its decision the "an extension of time for the filing of exceptions' might be appropriate." We would certainly agree to filing a Notice of Appeal within the ten days, at your request.

Respectfully submitted, p & .
