South Texas Project Units 182 Docket Nos. STN 50-498, STN 50-499 Response to Request for Additional Information - FSAR Ouestions 032.42, 43, 44, and 45 Houston Lighting A Power Company has received your request for additional information regarding the instrumentation and control systems for the South Texas Project.
Although a response was requested to be provided within 120 days of our receipt of your letter (i.e., by September 4,1981), the questions can not be fully answerei by that date, due primarily to the txcensive review that is necessary to provide a complete response.
A suwiary of the review efforts and the anticipated schedule for their completion is given below:
Question 032.42:
Loss of Non-Class IE Instrumentation and Control Power System Bus During Power Operation STP design has not yet been completed in this area.
A partial response to this question will be provided in an amendment to the STP FSAR in December,1981.
Question 032.43:
Engineered Safety Features (ESF) Reset Controls The STP design is still being reviewed regarding this question. The response to this ouestion is currently expected to be provided in an amendment to the STP FSAR in December, 1981.

Question 032.44: Qualification of Control Systems The STP design is still being reviewed regarding -this question. Depending upon the scope of the review necessary to provide a response, the results of' the review will be submitted in an amendment to the STP FSAR between June,1982,. a'.J June,1983.
Question 032.45: Control System Failures The STP design is still being reviewed regarding this.questfor. A response is currently expected to be provided in an amendment to the STP FSAR in July, 1982.
