Dear Mr. Keppler:
MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 IE Bulletin No. 80-11 The following information is submitted for clarification of Monticello's July 7,1980 submittal on IE Bulletin No. 80-11 as requested by Mr. R. Landsmann during his July 14, 1931 audit of the Bulletin implemen-tation.
As an attachment to the July 7 letter, a set of lists were provided des-cribing some of the equipment and systems associated with safety-related 4
walls. The information supplied by these lists appears to be leading to some confusion. The lists should have been looked at as preliminary information only. When taken collectively, they provide information as to the type of i
equipment and systems associated with safety-related walls as requested by the Bullarin for the 60 day report.
These lists were originally used to identify the safety-related walls in the plant.
Systems and equipment that could be easily identified were noted. However, once a wall was identified as safety-related, no additional effort was made to insure the accurate identity of all equipment on the wall was listed due to the extremely limited amount of time available to respond to the Bulletin.
l This resulted in a conservative identification of " safety-related" valls.
i These walls were then inspected and maps were made of all equipment on each l
wall. These maps were used as inputs to the wall analysis for load determi-nation. Further investigation of equipment on these walls led to some of them being reclassified as non-bulletin related.
In addition, the number of safety-related walls submitted is subject to change due to future plant modifications and project review.
