Dear Mr. Tedesco:

9 Clinton Power Station Units 1 & 2 7

pj Docket Nos. 50-461 and 50-462 h:'p i

This is in response to your letter of July 21, 1981 concern-ing Illinois Fower Company's plans for alerting the public within the plume exposure pathway zone.

Illinois Power Company will have a prompt notification systee in operation for Clinton Unit 1 by fuel load.

The system will con-sist of sirens, tone activated radios or other acceptable means.

The area around Clinton Power Station consists of flat terrain, relatively low population density and a regular network of highways and country roads; at this time we do not foresee any problems that will hinder implementation of such a system.

As we progress through the design and implementation of this system, we will keep State and local officials informed.

Sincerely, l '

. Wuller
