.6 Virginia Electric and Power Company North Anna Power Station, Unit 1 Attachment: Page 1 of 1 Locket No. 50-338 Report No. LER 81-OS9/03L-0

Description of Event

On July 14, 1981 with the Unit in Mode 1, it was determined that the Reactor Protection and ESF Logic Test for Train A, 1-PT-36.1, had not been performed within the required monthly surveillance interval (including the allowable extension) for the month of April, 1981. This is contrary to T.S. 3.3.2 and reportable pursuant to T.S. 6.9.1.9.c.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence Since the surveillance interval for Train A was missed by only one week and since the surveillance interval for Train B was satisfied the health and safety of the general public were not affected.

Cause of Ivent The cause of this event was a scheduling error. The Reactor Protec-tion and ESF Logic Test, 1-PI-36.1, is required to be performed on each train on an alternating basis (at least one train each month). During the Unit I refueling outage Train A was tested on March 28 and Train B was tested on March 29, 1981.

Train A was not performed again until May 13, 1981 which is outside of the surveillance interval (including the allowable extension).

Immediate Corrective Action

Since this event was discovered on July 14, 1981 and 1-PT-36.1 was successfully completed on May 13, 1981, no immediate corrective action was necessary. However, a Deviation Report was submitted.

Scheduled Corrective Accion The performance schedule for this test has been reviewed to insure that it is performed in a timely manner in the future.

Actions Taken to Prevent Reccurrence No further action is required.

Generic Implications There are no generic implications associated with this event.
