..Section 14(a) of Public Law 95-601, the NRC Authorization Act for,+i al Year 1979, requires that we notify the Governor and the State Legislature whenever we have knowledge that a (major) radioactive waste storage or disposal facility is proposed to be developed in a State.
Therefore, I wish to inform you that the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has applied to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to prcvide for interim on site storage of low-level waste at its Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Linestone C ou nty. A notice of the TVA application published in the Federal Register is enclosed.
Information on this action is available to the public in ine-NRC Public Document Room and in the Local " 51ic Document Roon located at the Athens Public Library under Docket Number 30-19102 which is with Docket Numbers 50-259/260/296.
