This responds to your letter of May 22, extension of the number of shipments authorized ~ by our route approval letter of September 23, 1980.
Approval to make additional shipments under impoet license ISNM-79007 is granted through December 31, 1981.
4 The route previously approved has been revalidated and remains in effect and your proposed ports of call are approved, both contingent upon meeting the requirements of 10 CFR Part 73.37 relative to heavily populated areas.
Recently updated arrangements with law enforcement agencies along the route have been completed by the NRC staff. Data relating to these arrenaonents and a copy of the approved route are enclosed. This information is to be incorporated tuto your shipment plans and provided to your carrier along with instructions regarding its use.
Please note that assuring highway safety is the responsibility of the licen-see and carrier and our approval does not guarantee that there will be no local or state legislation applicable to tr route that rest.-icts or pro-hibits the movement of radioactive material.
During seasonal periods when inclement weather with accompanying hazardous road conditions can occur with short notice, the appmpriate state police should be contacted with regard to road conditions w. ore a shig..ent com-mences.
Notification requirements of 10 CFR Part 73.72 for each individual shipment apply.
