Dear Mr. Schwencer:
Enclosed is a summary of the first and second quarters for 1981 of the fog and rime ice observations in the vicinity of the LaSalle cooling pond.
The summary includes all incidences of observed fog and rime ice.
In the first quarter, there were only 2 days out of the 61 observation days when the visibility was less than 1/4 mile.
In both incidences, fog covered the entire gereral area surrounding the station.
There were only two observations of rime ice.
The area affected was restricteo to the site adjacent to the cooling water discharge bay.
In the second quarter, there was only one observation (morning of April 30, 1981) out of 122 observations made when the visibility was less than 1/4 mile.
Moreover, the visibility limitation pertained to only five of the nine observation stations.
