Dear Mr. Felton:

On April 3, 1981, the NRC's Staff-conducted a briefing for Commissioner Bradford on the Commission's fire protection research program.

A transcript of that meeting was subsequently made available.

Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, Debevoise Liberman requests copies of the following records, some of which were identified at the briefing:

1.

The January 8, 1981 memorandum from Mr. Harrison to Mr. Benaroya, through Mr. Ferguson (transcript, pp. 60-61).

2.

All memoranda "with Roger Mattson's signature saying we have serious reservations and problems"

{

(referred to by Mr. Harrison, transcript, p. 74).

3.

Other records containing Mr. Mattson's or any other NRC staff member's discussion or analysis of tests performed by Sandia Laboratories in connection with the Commission's fire protection research program.

Memoranda, notes, or other records on the subject matter of Commissioner Bradford's briefing prepared for, during, or as a result of the
